Q: What is a chamber?
A: A chamber of commerce is a local association of business people organized to promote the welfare of their community, especially its commercial interests.

 

Q: What can the Hispanic chamber do for me – a small business owner?
A: The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce assists small business owners in building their businesses by providing business services, programs, and access to those that will expedite the achievement of their goals. Through our relationships with numerous agencies, the Hispanic Chamber is equipped with insight and knowledge to assist businesses with certification, education, expansion and restructuring. Contact the Hispanic Chamber for a list of partnering agencies.

 

Q: Who runs the Hispanic Chamber?
A: The president, board of directors and volunteer committees, in conjunction with staff, carry out the work of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

 

Q: How can I join?
A: You can join the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce by calling the Membership Department at 210.225.0462 or by visiting our website at www.sahcc.org.

 

Q: Are there any requirements to join?
A: There are no specific requirements.

 

Q: Is there a fee to join the Hispanic Chamber?
A: Yes. A yearly fee is assessed based on the number of employees. Dues vary for business owners, non-business owners, individuals, and corporations. An account executive can assist you in becoming a member.

 

Q: Can I pay my dues with a credit card?
A: Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

 

Q: When does my membership begin?
A: Membership is for 1 year and begins the date we receive payment and a completed membership application. i.e. January 23, 2007 to January 22, 2008.

 

Q: What is requested of me as a member of the Hispanic Chamber?
A: A member is strongly encouraged to participate in the programs available and attend as many events as possible. The programs and events are an added value to the everyday operation of a business and help to establish relationships with other chamber members that can provide ideas to improve and grow your business.

 

Q: How do I join a volunteer committee?
A: Contact the Membership Department for information and a sign-up sheet of the various committees at 210.225.0462, ext. 227.

 

Q: What committees does the Hispanic Chamber offer?
A: Leadership and Education, Business Development, and Government Affairs are just a few of the committees available for you to join.

 

Q: What is the Access to Capital program?
A: The Access to Capital Program is a community service provided by the Hispanic Chamber. For more information visit our website at www.sahcc.org or the Vice President of Business Development, 210.225.0462 – Ext. 223.

Q: What type of events does the Hispanic Chamber offer?
A: The Hispanic Chamber sponsors business “meet and greets,” networking mixers, golf tournaments, ribbon cuttings, and other events that give members opportunities to build connections in the business community. Several of these programs or events are free of charge.

 

Q: Where can I find a listing of upcoming events?
A: All upcoming events are listed on our website, quarterly e-newsletter, and mentioned weekly in the Chamber Briefly. A list can also be faxed upon request.

 

Q: Do I have to be a member of the Hispanic Chamber to attend the events?
A: No; however, Hispanic Chamber members do receive discounts on admission to events.
