The Healthcare and Bioscience Committee for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is a relatively new committee formed to capitalize on the growing healthcare and biomedical sector in our city.  The committee is here to educate and inform our fellow members and the San Antonio area how healthcare, physical and behavioral, impact their lives and the lives of their workers.

We are pleased to share with you the five primary goals for the committee this year:

  1. Support our medical facilities and medical professionals by advocating for state and local policies that promote access to affordable health insurance for the uninsured.
  2. Advocate for state and local policies that ensure fair payment for services provided.
  3. Advocate for policy changes that aim to provide stable funding to support investment in community workforce training to further improve the quality of care.
  4. Help the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce be the leading Chamber in advocating for improvements and strengthening of our state’s Behavioral Health Care System.
  5. Advise the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce around growing or trending healthcare issues.

The Healthcare and Bioscience Committee is chaired by Dr. Erika Gonzalez-Reyes of South Texas Allergy & Asthma Medical Professionals and Dr. Jacob Cuellar of Laural Ridge Treatment Center.
