Port Authority Seeks Qualified Board Members
Port Authority of San Antonio is a “defense base development authority,” a special district and political subdivision of the State of Texas, established by the City of San Antonio pursuant to Chapter 378 of the Texas Local Government Code. The Port Authority Board of Directors is comprised of eleven (11) members appointed by the City Council. Board members may serve up to (3) three, two-year terms. The Port Authority seeks board members with expertise in the fields of business leadership with backgrounds in finance, real estate development, marketing, manufacturing, international transportation, trade and aeronautical fields.
The Port Authority is responsible for managing and developing the real estate assets from the former Kelly AFB that were conveyed to the Port Authority by the USAF. The Port Authority provides the vision and policy guidance to develop the property into an international multi-modal logistics airport and rail port in a foreign-trade zone.
Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 3:00 PM in the Port Authority Conference room, 145 Billy Mitchell Boulevard, Suite 6. Meeting duration is usually two to three hours. Special meetings are occasionally held as necessary. The board has three standing committees (Planning, Performance Oversight and Executive) which meet monthly in advance of the board meeting.
