Stateside TAMACC 2007 Convention coming to San Antonio
AUSTIN, TX -
The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (Hispanic Chamber) was awarded the 2007 Convention of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) at their quarterly meeting in Austin this morning. The conference will be held July 25 – 28, 2007.
San Antonio was one of three finalist cities, including Austin and McAllen, bidding for the three-day conference, which hosts more than 700 attendees, more than 36 Hispanic Chambers and other Hispanic-professional affiliated organizations, and several nationwide corporations.
Former Chairman of the Hispanic Chamber Board, Mayor of San Antonio, and HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros (American City Vista) presented San Antonio’s convention proposal to TAMACC’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Cisneros presented a comprehensive convention package, which was developed by a team of Hispanic Chamber members, and City of San Antonio officials, including executives of the Convention & Visitors Bureau. During his presentation, Cisneros said, “The Hispanic Chamber’s efforts in bringing the TAMACC Convention to San Antonio is particularly important, given the impact it will have on our city’s convention business in 2007.”
“As the home of the oldest and one of the largest Hispanic chambers in the nation, San Antonio is proud to welcome our statewide partner - TAMACC in 2007. San Antonio’s history of cultivating Hispanic entrepreneurship and our desire to bring the convention to our city inspired our host theme – ‘El Paseo de Negocios – the Journey of Hispanic Business’”, said A.J. Rodriguez, Hispanic Chamber President & CEO.
The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is the principle resource and advocate for the growth of the Hispanic Businesses and the driving force in guiding San Antonio’s emergence as a national leader of successful Hispanics in business.
