Southwest Airlines & Hispanic Chamber travel to Mexico

Today we had the honor of joining one of our most valued partners Southwest Airlines on their Inaugural Flight to Mexico. This flight, San Antonio to Mexico City, marks a historic milestone as their first official international flight to Mexico under the Southwest brand.

Members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, led by 2015 Chairman of the Board, Al Aguilar, joined Southwest executives and the San Airport Director, Frank Miller, for a Media Event at San Antonio’s airport as the SW Flight 652 was getting ready to become part of the airline’s history departing from gate A9.

Other guests attending the Media Event included representatives from the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Rackspace, Accion – TX, True Flavors & La Gloria restaurants, Hispanic Chamber staff, and many other guests.

Some other great surprises awaited the passengers of this Inaugural Flight. Southwest thanked everyone who joined this flight with a gift card to be used for any of the flights our proud member offers in the U.S., and now in Mexico too. Moreover, Flight 652 was welcomed at the Mexico City airport by a Water Arch as the plane got “baptized” to commemorate this inaugural journey. Finally, the Hispanic Chamber group joined a Press Conference coordinated by the Mexico Tourism Ministry welcoming the Southwest team to Mexico.

In conjunction with this November 2nd flight, the Hispanic Chamber also departs to begin the Annual SA to DF visit – November 2 – 4. Tomorrow, the delegation coordinated by the Hispanic Chamber will meet with U.S. Embassy leadership, Ambassador Antonio Garza, and other visits including a meeting with CANACINTRA, and others.
