Mortgage Delinquencies Rise
The number of American households behind on mortgage payments or in foreclosure rose slightly in the second quarter from the first but was still lower than a year ago, offering the latest sign of the economy’s uneven recovery from the housing bust. The Mortgage Bankers Association reported 11.9% of mortgage loans on one- to four-unit homes were 30 days or longer past due or in the foreclosure process at the end of second quarter.
