U.S. Jobless Claims Edge Down to 382,000
New claims for jobless benefits in the U.S. fell slightly last week, indicating the uneven nature of the labor market recovery. According to the Department of Labor, the number of first-time claims for unemployment insurance declined by 3,000 to 382,000 in the week ended September 15. This came in above consensus forecasts of 373,000 but below the previous week’s upwardly revised level of 385,000.
