Wholesale Inflation Up 1.1%

Producer prices in the U.S. rose more than expected in September as the cost of energy surged, but underlying inflation pressures were muted. According to the Department of Labor, the Producer Price Index increased 1.1% in September. Despite the rise in overall wholesale inflation last month, there is likely to be little of it passed through to consumers, given the sluggish job growth, which puts a brake on inflation.
