On Wednesday, March 24, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted 130 people at our 2016 Alexander Briseño Leadership Development Program (ABLDP) Recruitment and Networking Mixer. Many notable alumni joined us to meet with prospective applicants at the event.

The ABLDP mixer was held at Viva Villa Taqueria, owned and operated by ABLDP alum, Chef Cariño Cortez. Doug Melnick, Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of San Antonio, spoke to the crowd about the importance of civic engagement with rising leaders in our community and the necessity of helping passionate people impact change in San Antonio.
At the event, the ABLDP Alumni Engagement Committee launched a new award called the “ABLDP Alumni Spotlight Award.” Past ABLDP Alumni were able to submit nominations throughout the months of February and March for this award. The six honorees that were selected were:

- Melissa Aguillon, Aguillon & Associates
- Chef Cariño Cortez, Viva Villa Taqueria
- Jenee Margo Gonzales, The Marianist Province of the United States
- Councilman Cris Medina, District 7, San Antonio
- Laura Elizabeth Morales, City of San Antonio
