The Hispanic Chamber Heads to SXAméricas

San Antonio business and technology leaders will meet with the Trade Commissioner of Spain and Spanish companies during SXSW

The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will have a strong presence this year during SXSW in Austin. They are partnering with Spain Tech to invite Hispanic Chamber members that are within the technology industry, and other San Antonio key technology and economic development leaders to meet with nearly 30 Spanish companies at SXAméricas: Connecting North America, South America, Spain and Central America.

Trade Commissioner of Spain Inmaculada Gutiérrez Carrizo is working closely with the Hispanic Chamber to connect delegates from Spain to speak with San Antonio innovators about cybersecurity issues and technology in our community.

“We are bringing to SXSW a good representation of Spanish talent in entrepreneurship and technology,” said Gutiérrez Carrizo. “This is a wonderful opportunity for them to connect with companies from all over Texas and, particularly, from San Antonio. Your amazing city constitutes a very attractive ecosystem for our companies.”

Ramiro Cavazos, President and CEO of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Honorary Consul of Spain will be attending events at SXSW to welcome and connect with Gutiérrez Carrizo and the Spanish delegation to discuss the Hispanic Chamber’s upcoming Spain Trade Mission, as well as present and future economic development interests and opportunities. He will also be meeting with the Texas Association of Business to further discuss joining forces for an upcoming cybersecurity conference in San Antonio.

“Economic development efforts like this are important for our city and vital to fulfill our Hispanic Chamber’s mission to connect our more than 1,300 members to new business opportunities locally and abroad,” said Cavazos. “We want to continue to elevate our existing relationships in Spain and spark interest from the Spanish companies to do business in San Antonio, and bring more quality jobs to our city.”

The Hispanic Chamber has already set up meetings for representatives of Tech Bloc, the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation and Choose San Antonio to speak with Gutiérrez Carrizo and Spanish companies during the Spain Tech event.

In addition to attending Spain Tech at SXSW, the Hispanic Chamber is proud to be sponsoring Choose San Antonio, as they debut a San Antonio trade show booth, event series and promotional presence at SXSW Interactive.

On May 21-28, 2016, The Hispanic Chamber will be hosting their Spain Trade Mission led by Mayor Ivy Taylor. The trip will include a visit to the United States Embassy, Instituto Cervantes Mayor’s speech, Tricentennial cultural visits, high-level industry development opportunities, sister-city anniversary events, and much more.
