The Hispanic Chamber commends Senate Committee vote on Contreras-Sweet to lead the U.S. Small Business Administration

The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, America’s first Hispanic chamber, is very pleased about the bipartisan backing of Maria Contreras-Sweet by the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee to become the next head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Contreras-Sweet’s new role would be vital in extending more loans to expanding businesses in the United States, promoting federal contracting opportunities to small businesses, and offering educational programming and business counseling for entrepreneurs.

Her wealth of experience as the Founder and Executive Chair of ProAmérica Bank and her extensive leadership experience in both the public and private sectors make her a prime candidate to take on this headship position with the SBA.

With the committee’s undisputed favorable vote in support of Contreras-Sweet as the next SBA Administrator, the decision will now move forward to the Senate for final approval.

The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, takes great pride in supporting the business needs of our many small business members and urges the swift approval of a very qualified nominee in Ms. Maria Contreras-Sweet to the position of SBA Administrator.
