Airport Strategic Development Plan recognized for excellence in public relations
“Pop-Ups: Taking the Meetings to the Community” effort receives PRSA El Bronce Award
SAN ANTONIO (May 23, 2019) — The San Antonio Airport System Strategic Development Plan was recognized on May 22 by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) San Antonio Chapter with an El Bronce Award of Excellence for its 2018 “Pop-Ups: Taking the Meetings to the Community” effort.
The informal pop-up meetings were held in 10 locations throughout San Antonio to bring meetings to places that people naturally congregate to inform community members and obtain input for the airport’s strategic development planning process. More than 370 interactions/engagements were documented, and over 2,265 surveys were completed in person and online.
The planning and execution of the pop-ups was shared by team members from both the San Antonio Airport System and the consulting team (including international engineering and planning firm WSP, local public relations and marketing organization Gretchen Roufs/Auxiliary Marketing Services, and local engineering and public involvement firm Poznecki-Camarillo, Inc.). Gretchen Roufs, APR, submitted the entry for El Bronce recognition.
PRSA San Antonio’s El Bronce award program mirrors PRSA’s national Bronze Anvil awards. El Bronce Award entries are judged anonymously by another PRSA chapter according to a predefined set of criteria. When evaluating El Bronce entries, the judges consider planning and content, creativity and quality, technical excellence, and assessment and results. El Bronce Award of Excellence recognizes the highest level of excellence in public relations tactics. In addition to El Bronce Awards for tactics, the San Antonio chapter bestows Del Oro awards for individual achievements and La Plata awards for public relations campaigns. The awards are named to reflect the local culture in San Antonio, and are presented to recipients at the chapter’s annual award ceremony.
PRSA is the world’s largest and foremost organization for public relations professionals. Under its national structure, there are more than 100 chapters across the country that provide valuable education, ethical guidance, awards and professional recognition, connections between public relations practitioners, and opportunities for profession accreditation through the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) program. The PRSA San Antonio Chapter was formed in 1955 and has more than 200 members in San Antonio and south Texas.
