After the results of the 2019 Rodeo, the Rodeo has impacted the lives of 21,219 Texas youth in 2019 in their educational endeavors.
Executive Director & CEO Cody Davenport said, “As a result of last February’s show, we are thrilled to surpass $210 million in helping Texas youth achieve their educational goals. This contribution benefits so many generations of Texas youth, and we are proud to continue fulfilling our mission. Our dedicated volunteer force that helps drive our mission are a significant part of making this educational commitment along with our community, patrons and sponsors that support our great event.”
In addition to creating an economic impact of $250 million, 21,219 students from the community and state have benefited from giving by the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. These students receive educational awards in the form of scholarships, grants, endowments, junior livestock auctions, student western art, calf scramble program and show premiums.
At the Annual Meeting, Rodeo scholar Jamie Carpenter commented, “Starting out as a volunteer for the Rodeo at 14 years old has helped me find the value of service as it’s about serving the goal to educate the youth of Texas. Now a graduate of Tarleton State University, I am proof of the power of hard work … from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the scholarship and to the volunteers as I do not have a single penny of debt and was able to stress less on finances and stress more on classes.”
The 2020 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will be held February 6-23 at the Freeman Coliseum/AT&T Center grounds. Tickets for the Rodeo go on sale Wednesday, May 15th at 8 am at sarodeo.com or ticketmaster.com.
