Congratulations to Univision on their 60th Anniversary and Grand Re-Opening!

On Friday, June 26th, we celebrated the 60th Anniversary and Grand Re-Opening of Univision’s Downtown Studio in Market Square at Texas A&M San Antonio Centro de Artes-Education & Cultural Arts Center located at 101 S. Santa Rosa, San Antonio, Texas 78207.

We celebrated the legacy of the nation’s first Spanish-language television station that began with the vision of Raoul A. Cortez and Emilio Nicolas Sr.  Univision San Antonio 41’s first broadcast was on June 10, 1955. Since then, the local TV station has been a pillar in the community and an integral force in shaping the television industry, not only in San Antonio but across the nation.

In attendance, there were community leaders, elected officials, their local past and present Univision On-Air talent, as well as talent from their Univision Networks:  Lily Estefan from El Gordo y la Flaca, Natalia Cruz from Primer Impacto, Maria Antonieta Collins and Arantxa Loizaga from Noticieros, and Carlos Calderon from Sal y Pimienta.

The celebration attendees were also be able to enjoy the performances of Grupo Varonil, Lucky Joe, Stefani Montiel, La Reunion Norteña, Michael Salgado, and AJ Castillo right outside the studio.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the celebration and those who helped put it together. For more information, please visit the Univision website:
