Col. Charles E. Cheever Sr. and Betty Cheever opened Broadway Bank February 15, 1941, at 5044 Broadway Street in Alamo Heights with five employees, $60,000 and a dream. Today, 75 years later, Broadway Bank is still family-owned and -operated with 39 banking centers throughout San Antonio, Austin, the hill country and surrounding communities. Now, with more than 630 employees, the bank has $3.2 billion in assets and we stand by our mission to deliver the best banking experience—resulting in lasting relationships.
To commemorate their 75th anniversary they are cutting an opening in the marble at the base of our flag pole and lowering a time capsule filled with items that represent Broadway Bank and the banking industry in 2016. The preservation of these items is for our future bankers and community who will open the time capsule in 25 years on our 100th anniversary!
Their new CEO, David Bohne, will help mark this milestone with Broadway Bank employees as he officially takes the helm on May 2. He joins Broadway Bank following 8 years as president of USAA Federal Savings Bank, bringing proven leadership, expertise in asset and capital management, innovative product design and management, and customer experience.
Join them for this historic day at Broadway Bank with great photo opportunities and interviews with Bohne; Jim Goudge, our chairman and outgoing CEO; Charles Cheever Jr., our chairman emeritus and the son of our founders; and other family members and long-time employees.
