TAKE ACTION: TELL CONGRESS TO PASS THE USMCA
In 1992, the US/Canada/Mexico signed a historic free trade agreement that today supports 950,000 Texas jobs with 55,000 of those by San Antonio manufacturers alone accounting for a $40.5 billion-dollar impact. Moreover, this free trade agreement fueled growth that resulted in making Texas the 10th largest economy in the world.
Congress will shortly consider the passage of an updated NAFTA now termed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The USMCA builds on NAFTA by incorporating 21-century solutions with provisions on digital trade, intellectual property, and financial services.
The SAHCC, following deliberations with trade experts earlier this year in Washington and more recently on a trade mission to Mexico City, fully supports this updated agreement and urge Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator John Cronyn, Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Joaquin Castro, Congressman Henry Cuellar, Congressman Lloyd Doggett, Congressman Will Hurd, Congressman Chip Roy along with their congressional colleagues to vote to pass and ratify the. U.S.MCA before year’s end.
“Ratification of the USMCA is essential to San Antonio and Texas’ continued economic expansion,” said Diane S. Sanchez, President & CEO of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
