Bravo! Boeing Marks 15 Years of Operation at San Antonio Site

More than 1,200 military and commercial aircraft serviced since 1998

SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 8, 2013 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] today marks 15 years of maintaining and modifying aircraft at its San Antonio facility, where more than 1,600 skilled employees ensure the availability of a variety of large military and commercial aircraft.

“Boeing San Antonio continues to compete for new maintenance, repair and overhaul opportunities in the United States and globally while affordably and effectively supporting current customers,” said Boeing San Antonio site leader Kevin Devine. “Our team has built a reputation for quality that has resulted in excellent performance on existing contracts but we continue to look for ways to achieve even more.”

Boeing San Antonio began in 1998 at the San Antonio Air Logistics Center at Kelly Air Force Base to provide an affordable, high-quality, short-cycle time maintenance and modification center. The facility’s first aircraft was a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III airlifter and, to date, more than 1,200 aircraft have been worked on in the facility.

The site recently diversified to include commercial airplanes by adding refurbishment work packages for the technically advanced Boeing 747-8 Freighter and 787 Dreamliner, as well as non-Boeing platforms.

Boeing San Antonio also continues to partner with business, government and nonprofit organizations to strengthen local communities. Over the years, the site’s charitable and in-kind investments to benefit the community have included:

Partnerships with Morgan’s Wonderland, St. Peter-St. Joseph’s Children’s Home and San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind

Strengthening science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education through partnerships with Alamo Aerospace Academies, Challenger Learning Center at San Antonio College, Girls Incorporated, John Jay Science and Engineering Academy, St. Philip’s College and University of Texas at San Antonio College of Engineering

Supporting veterans and military families through charitable contributions and volunteer support to Operation Homefront, Project MEND and Homeless Veterans Burial Program. Earlier this year, Boeing San Antonio received the Employer of Veterans Award from the American Legion for its strong record in hiring and training veterans.
