Gallego Invites Hispanic Chamber to White House Meeting on Trade and Exports
U.S. Representative Pete P. Gallego, 23rd District of Texas, invited the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to a roundtable meeting hosted by Penny Pritzker, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and Jeff Zientz, Assistant to the President and Director of the National Economic Council. The group will discuss expanding exports from the United States. This high-level meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in the Roosevelt Room located in the West Wing of the White House, in Washington D.C.
“My goal is to show the strengths of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber, the importance of San Antonio business community and to get the federal government’s commitment to help create opportunities for stronger businesses and more entrepreneurs in the export industry,” said U.S. Rep. Gallego. “I appreciate Ramiro Cavazos joining me for this important meeting as we work together to create jobs and opportunity in San Antonio and the region.”
Best practices and available federal tools for American businesses and entrepreneurs looking to expand their export capacity will be center of discussion.
President and CEO Ramiro Cavazos will be representing the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber at this meeting. Cavazos will advocate on behalf of the Hispanic Chamber’s more than 1,000 business members who form an active part of San Antonio’s export industry.
“As a Hispanic Chamber, we work to maintain and foster existing trade relations for San Antonio, discover best practices for local trade initiatives, and conduct international trade missions,” said Cavazos. “It is a privilege to be at this meeting as part of our mission is to have a seat at the table, and this meeting is pivotal and embracing of that mission.”
This trip marks the third visit for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber to Washington D.C. During visits to Washington, D.C., the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce does important advocacy work on behalf of their members, the San Antonio business community, and many national and international partners.
