The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has announced that Luis Rodriguez, formerly the Director of Membership for the Five-Star accredited organization, has been promoted to Chief Operations Officer and Vice President of Economic Development.

A native Texan raised in San Antonio, Rodriguez has spent his professional career strongly devoted to business development, strategic relationship building and economic development. His tenure with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has also given him experience with collaboration in the areas of international business and government affairs.

“We are delighted that Luis has decided to take on this very important role with our organization,” said Ramiro Cavazos, President and CEO. “His expertise, over-arching understanding of all areas of our chamber’s small business program goals and experience will prove to be invaluable to moving the Hispanic Chamber and San Antonio’s economic development efforts forward.”

For more than five years at the Hispanic Chamber, Rodriguez has worked closely with economic development groups including elected officials, corporate executives, community organizations and more than 1,200 Hispanic Chamber members, to develop long-term relationships and sustainable business growth.

Rodriguez currently serves on the Business Retention and Expansion committee (BRE) for the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF).  He is also a member of the San Antonio Health Advisory Board on behalf of Humana, one of the largest healthcare insurance providers in the United States.  Formerly, Rodriguez was a member of the San Antonio Community Actions Committee (SACAC) with the U.S. Army.

“I’m very excited to continue working with one of San Antonio’s leading business organizations in this new leadership role at the Hispanic Chamber,” said Rodriguez. “I’m confident that my passion for moving San Antonio forward, will translate into an exciting future of continued growth for our local workforce, and new business ventures for our great city.”

As America’s first Hispanic Chamber and San Antonio’s only Five-Star accredited organization by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce continues to be the leader in business assistance, connecting its members to needed resources, providing marketing and networking opportunities, advocating for legislation affecting small businesses and corporations in the San Antonio metropolitan area, and better training to develop the skills of our local workforce.
