Last Friday, February 16, 2018, your San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) Foundation hosted SAISD Superintendent Pedro Martinez for a discussion about the State of SAISD. There was a sellout crowd of more than 300 business, education and government leaders in attendance. The event marked Superintendent Martinez’s third time on stage as he celebrated the District’s accomplishments and addressed the issues the District faces as an urban-serving institution.
With more than 50,000 students, SAISD is the largest inner-city school district with approximately 90 schools in the center of San Antonio. Join Superintendent Pedro Martinez as he provides the State of SAISD with an update on the district’s bold, strategic plan initially implemented in 2016, the expansion of options for students and their families, and continued plans for ensuring SAISD is a model urban school district for the country.
“We are in the initial stages of a transformation in our district,” Superintendent Martinez said.“We are setting this goal of becoming a modern urban school district, and we are obsessed with making sure our children are prepared for the best options possible for their future. If we work with our community, if we work with the parents, it is amazing what our children will show us.”
“He (Martinez) has brought a laser-focus on improving our academic achievement and inspiring our graduates to greater heights,” said Ramiro Cavazos, President and CEO of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Continue reading more about the event on SAISD’s website!
