Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited San Antonio on June 16-18, as part of the city’s yearlong Tricentennial celebration! Our President and CEO Ramiro A. Cavazos, who currently serves as honorary consul of Spain, and our Chairwoman Erika Prosper Nirenberg served as two of San Antonio’s lead hosts for their Majesties, from welcoming them at the airport alongside Mayor Ron Nirenberg, County Judge Nelson Wolff and his wife Tracy Wolff, and the Tricentennial Executive Director and City of San Antonio Assistant Director Carlos Contreras to seeing them off yesterday afternoon.
The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was instrumental in attaining this royal visit by leading 10 trade missions to Spain throughout the last decade. During the last trade mission, an invitation was hand-delivered to the Spanish Royal Household.
While Their Majesties were visiting our city, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber also partnered with la Fundación Carolina of Spain to coordinate a special Young Hispanic Leaders Summit, allowing for greater opportunities for collaboration in economic development by hosting leaders from around the world in our city.
