Methodist Healthcare has named Michelle DeStefano, BSN, MPA, RN, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, a campus of Methodist Hospital.
“Michelle is passionate about creating and sustaining work environments that promote retention of nursing staff, positive patient outcomes, collaboration among physicians and other providers, and improvement in patient and staff safety initiatives,” said David Handley, FACHE, chief executive officer for Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital.
DeStefano most recently worked as the director of clinical services in both neurosciences and cardiovascular service lines at York Hospital/WellSpan inYork,Pennsylvania. While at the hospital, DeStefano led the Magnet Journey forYorkHospitalfrom 2006 to 2010 as their director of nursing excellence and innovation. In this position, she facilitated a restructuring ofYorkHospital’s professional nursing practice environment that led to the hospital receiving magnet designation, recognition that is based on stringent criteria for quality care and innovation in nursing.
Prior to that, she served in many leadership roles atPennStateMiltonHersheyMedicalCenterinHershey,Pennsylvania.
Methodist Specialty andTransplantHospitalhas earned international acclaim for its outstanding kidney, liver and pancreas transplant programs, setting record numbers for volume and outcomes.
