UIW Ettling Center and Hispanic Chamber Actively Recruiting Mentors for New Program!

October 2014, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics launched a Year of Action, and with it a national call for Commitments to Action in honor of its 25th anniversary. In 2015, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), in collaboration with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SAHCC), proudly joined the nearly 150 public and private sector organizations who answered the call by committing to a Professional-Student Mentoring Program, the Cardinal Latina Mentorship Program (CLMP). This mentoring program is currently focusing on 50 Latina undergraduates over the course of 3 years. The commitment is to mentor, develop, and increase Latinas’ persistence, retention, and graduation rates in the fields of STEM, health, education, and business.

As year 2 begins, we are seeking to recruit an additional 20 mentors. The second year of the CLMP will include continued training and discussions on mentoring, as well as opportunities for the mentors and mentees to gather, interact, and enhance the relationships. If you are interested in becoming a CLMP mentor, please complete the mentor section of the interest form by Friday, October 7th, 2016, at:  https://orgsync.com/136241/forms/219816   For additional information, please contact Denise Krohn at 210-283-6423 or email at CardinalLatinaMP@gmail.com
