The 2022 Local Policy Agenda was developed by the Local Policy Steering Committee and approved by the Government Affairs Committee and Board of Directors on January 25, 2022, to help shape the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber’s advocacy efforts at the local level. This document reflects the Hispanic Chamber’s five guiding principles when considering taking a position on policy issues that directly and indirectly impact our more than 900 members, mostly small, locally owned businesses.

These are propositions, bills, and other areas within our community that the SAHCC Board and Leadership have voted on and voted yes to support. If you are in local government and would like to share an item at our next Leadership meeting, please contact us.
SA Ready to Work: Local community initiative that was voted on and passed in 2020.
Goal: Recover and increase the workforce opportunities in San Antonio in the midst of COVID-19 without raising taxes.
Pre-K for SA: Local community initiative that was voted on and passed in 2020.
Goal: Bringing quality early childhood education to kids across the city who would not have access otherwise.
Vote Yes for Transit: Local community initiative that was voted on and passed in 2020.
Goal: To reallocate an existing sales tax to maintain and improve VIA transit service.
The purpose of the Government Affairs Committee is to identify and monitor issues on local, state, and national levels to support efforts aimed at the prosperity of the Hispanic business community. The committee is also responsible for ensuring the passage of the Hispanic Chamber’s federal and state Legislative Agendas.
